WATER
OBJECTIVE OF THE DAY: Getting to know that quality water is essential for sustainable development of all beings generations.
Have you ever wondered what the water we drink is like? What elements or substances must be eliminated from the water to be clean?
Water quality is linked to health, poverty reduction, food security, and the preservation of ecosystems.
How can we know that a river is clean? Do you know anything about the “biological indicators”: certain organisms (plants or animals) whose presence at a certain point reveals information about the quality of the water and the ecosystem of which they belong?
ACTIVITIES:
Visit to the Arazuri water treatment plant.
Bird ringing in the river park.
AFTER THE VISIT: To reinforce the importance of rivers in our environment, we suggest thay you make a comparison between a naturalized river (like the one you have visited today) and a canalized one (like the one in your city). Write the reasons why a river is channeled and the drawbacks of this practice.
